How it is done

Below is a guide showing the three steps and exactly what happens when you get your ears pierced.

1. Marking

The spot where you want to have your ear piercing is marked using a surgical marking pen.

2. Cleansing

The skin is thoroughly cleansed using alcohol swabs.

3. Sterile piercing

The ear piercing is done using sterile ear piercing jewellery, which is placed in a sterile, single-use piercing holder. The parts that you come into contact with are taken directly out of sterile packaging.

Aftercare guide when you have had your ears pierced

Immediately after you have had your ear pierced, the ear might feel warm and pulsing. This is perfectly normal and it will settle down after a day or two. However, it is very important that you take care of the new piercing properly so that it does not become infected. It takes at least six weeks for the hole to heal enough that you can switch to other earrings. Here, you can read more about how to care for your new piercing.

Carefully selected materials – nickel free earrings

We want to be able to offer nickel free earrings to everyone who gets their ears pierced. That is why we have chosen to work with specially selected, pure medical grade titanium and plastic. If the titanium jewellery has a coating, it will only be on the parts that do not come into contact with the skin. Our ear piercing jewellery has been developed in consultation with skin specialists, so that it is suitable for everyone, even those who already know that they are allergic.

The jewellery we use for ear piercing with Blomdahl is not ordinary earrings. They have been specially designed to facilitate the healing process and to make it easy for you to switch to ordinary earrings once the initial healing process is over.

Earrings that facilitate healing

With a new piercing, it is important that it is kept airy for optimal healing. That is why Blomdahl’s piercing earrings have two different lengths on the post, along with an earring back that is attached at the very end of the tip. Because the hole of a new piercing tends to shrink, we made the post a bit thicker, which is why the hole will also be a bit larger, at first. It helps ensure that the new, sensitive skin is less easily damaged when you switch earrings.

When you pierce your ears with Blomdahl, you will also receive our gentle cleansing swabs. You then use them afterwards to clean the area around the ear piercing, morning and evening. The swabs are also available for purchase, in case you need more.

Before you get an ear piercing

Prior to getting your ears pierced, you will be asked to certify that you have been given written aftercare instructions and that you agree to the terms stated there.

The terms are:

• I am of legal age. If not, your guardian must approve the terms.
• I/minor am fully healthy and do not have any ailments that make it advisable to not have my ears pierced. Consult your doctor if you are unsure.
• After my ears have been pierced, the piercing is my own/my guardian’s responsibility. A new piercing in the ear is also like a small wound. This is why it is important that it is cared for properly during the healing process, so that it does not become infected. If I follow the aftercare instructions, I will minimize the risk of infection.
