Why do we manufacture our skin friendly jewellery and medical ear piercing in Sweden?
Our vision is to contribute to a more responsible and caring jewellery world. That’s why we only make ear piercing products and jewellery that we would give to our own children. To keep our promise of protecting both your child’s and your own skin and health, we produce and control our jewellery in Sweden. This allows us to take full responsibility, from material selection all the way to the finished products.

Jewellery made outside of Sweden – risk of harmful substances and insufficient controls
Unfortunately, it's not only clothing and textiles that can contain dangerous chemicals or prohibited substances. Jewellery, made in countries outside the EU, which many pieces are, can also contain harmful or even toxic substances. The Swedish governmental agency, the Chemicals Agency, even warns against purchasing cheap jewellery online, as it too often contains excessive levels of harmful substances such as lead, nickel, cadmium, and phthalates.
Many manufacturers, particularly in Asia, struggle to guarantee full control over materials such as nickel. Even though material certificates may be available, it's difficult to know if they are genuine and if the jewellery truly meets the EU’s safety requirements. Random sampling is not sufficient to ensure the safety of all jewellery. Without proper controls and regulations, there's a risk that jewellery with excessive levels of nickel or other harmful substances will reach consumers. Furthermore, the term "nickel-free" is often used carelessly in marketing, despite the jewellery potentially containing large amounts of nickel and causing allergic reactions.

In-house production and strict quality control according to ISO13485. Since we have our production here in Sweden, we are responsible for every step in the manufacturing process and can maintain full control over all the materials we use. We also have a medical-device quality system (ISO13485) that monitors everything and ensures full traceability through LOT numbers for each individual piece of jewellery. This way, we can guarantee that your Blomdahl jewellery is gentle on your skin and that your ear piercing is sterile and safe for your health.
